Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) in collaboration with West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (WAPCP) (Nigeria Chapter) organized a one-day Sensitization Workshop on May 18, 2021, at the Banquet Hall, NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kado, Abuja, to kick-start the implementation of the Pharmacist Consultant Cadre within the healthcare system in Nigeria.
Asides the Chairman of the PCN Governing Council, Prof. A. T. Mora, mni, the Registrar, PCN, Pharm. N. A. E. Mohammed, and the management and staff of PCN present, other guests at the event included: Prof. N. N. Wannang, Fmr. Secretary-General, WAPCP (Keynote Address Speaker); Dr. Abubakar Adamu-Isma’eel, Director, Permanent Secretary Office (representing the Permanent Secretary, FMoH); Prof. (Mrs.) Cecilia Igwilo, President, WAPCP; Pharm. Olubukola Ajayi, Director, Food and Drug Services, FMoH; Dr. Chiedu K. Amibor, National Chairman, Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN); Dr. Chijioke Onyia, Chairman, WAPCP (Nigeria Chapter); Pharm. (Mrs.) Bisi Bright, Fmr. Secretary-General, WAPCP; Prof. Azuka C. Opara; Prof. Oluwatoyin Odeku, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan; Prof. Wilson Erhun; Pharm. The Workshop featured two plenary sessions which addressed the following topics.
1. Effective Implementation of Pharmacist Consultant Cadre for Improved Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria, and;
2. Integration of the Services of Consultant Pharmacists with Members of the Healthcare Professions in Public Health Institutions in Nigeria.
The workshop serves to kick-start the series of workshops that would be taking place in Kaduna, Lagos and Enugu on June 21st, 23rd and 25th, 2021 respectively.
